RISNA donates artwork to ANA

 RISNA donates artwork to ANA

Winter, 1993

David M. Gold, President of Gold International Machinery, Gold Industrial Machinery and Appraisal and Liquidation Service, Inc. presented Carol B. Lietar, Executive Director of Rhode Island State Nurses Association with one of his photographs as a donation to The American Nurses Association.

This gift was made in honor of his foster daughter, Patricia A. Gill, RN, who is staff nurse at The Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, RI.

David is an accomplished photographer who has displayed his work through out the state. ANA had requested an art work from each state association which will be highlighted one week at the new ANA headquarters and then permanently hung in their office. David had no hesitation when asked if he would be willing to donate one of his picture and wanted to recognize his foster daughter for her accomplishments in nursing.

Patty moved in with David and his wife Marcia and their two sons when she was eleven years old and stayed with them until she had finished high school. Upon early completion of high school, Patty joined the Navy as a corpsman and was eventually stationed at the Newport Naval Hospital. She is a 1990 graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island and is presently pursuing her BSN at URI part-time. She hopes to teach nursing eventually.

The picture David presented us is of a windmill in Portsmouth, RI. If you travel to Washington, DC, do take a moment to tour the ANA headquarters and enjoy the artwork.

We are most grateful to David for his generous gift to nursing.
